Audience
This guide is for the networking professional using the Cisco IOS command-line interface (CLI) to
manage the standalone Cisco Catalyst Switch Module 3110 for IBM BladeCenter, Cisco Catalyst Switch
Module 3012 for IBM BladeCenter, or the Catalyst Switch Module
3110 stack, referred to as the switch.
Before using this guide, you should have experience working with the Cisco IOS commands and the
switch software features. Before using this guide, you should have experience working with the concepts
and terminology of Ethernet and local area networking.
The Catalyst Switch Module 3110 is also referred to as a stacking-capable switch, and the Catalyst
Switch Module 3012 is referred to as a nonstacking-capable switch.
You install the switch in the IBM BladeCenter server chassis, referred to as the enclosure. For
information about the supported IBM BladeCenter server chassis, see your chassis documentation.
Purpose
This guide describes only the Catalyst Switch Module 3110 and Catalyst Switch Module 3012-specific
system messages that you might encounter. For a complete list of Cisco IOS system error messages, see

This guide does not describe how to install your switch or how to configure software features on your
switch. It also does not provide detailed information about commands that have been created or changed
