PM Messages
Error Message PM-4-BAD_VLAN_ID: an invalid vlan id ([dec]) was detected.
Explanation The port manager detected an invalid request. [dec] is the VLAN ID.
Recommended Action Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log.
Research and attempt to resolve the error by using the Output Interpreter. Enter the show
tech-support user EXEC command to gather data that might help identify the nature of the error.
Use the Bug Toolkit to look for similar reported problems. If you still require assistance, contact
IBM technical support and provide the representative with the gathered information. For more
information about the online tools and about contacting IBM, see the
“Error Message Traceback
Reports” section on page 1-6.
Error Message PM-4-ERR_DISABLE: [chars] error detected on [chars], putting [chars]
in err-disable state.
Explanation The port manager detected a misconfiguration or misbehavior and placed the interface
in an error-disabled state. A recovery is attempted after the configured retry time (the default is 5
minutes). [chars] is the port where the threshold was exceeded. The first [chars] is the error, and the
second and third [chars] are the affected interfaces.
Recommended Action Copy the message exactly as it appears on the console or in the system log.
