To replace the 387 Coprocessor, follow
these steps:
CAUTION
The most important step when installing the
387 coprocessor in a COMPAQ DESKPRO
386 Personal Computer is orientation of the
coprocessor. See Figure 7-38 for the correct
orientation. Pay particular attention to the
relative positions of the beveled corners that
indicate the location of Pin 1 on the 387
coprocessor.
1. Locate pin 1 of the coprocessor socket on
the system board. The coprocessor socket
is indicated by a notched corner.
2. Locate pin 1 on the coprocessor (indicated
by a notched corner), and align the copro-
cessor so that pin 1 on the coprocessor
matches pin 1 on the coprocessor socket
(Figure 7-48).
