Installing the Emergency Door Key
Normally, two emergency unlocking devices are supplied. Typically they are installed in the
bottom landing entrance and the next landing above. Some jurisdictions require that unlocking
devices be installed on every landing door and some do not permit them at all. Know your local
requirements before installation.
1) On the fast door panel, measure 5 3/4" (146 mm) down from the top of the door and
8 3/8" (213 mm) in from the leading edge. Drill a 7/16" (11 mm) hole through the door
panel.
2) Insert the keyway (Figure # 39, Item # 2) into the hole and the keyway bezel support
bracket (Item # 7) over the end of it (hoistway side). Place the spring nut (Item # 5) over
the keyway to secure it. Use the bracket as a guide to drill two (2) holes using a 5/32"
(4 mm) drill bit. Secure the keyway bezel support bracket to the door panel using two self-
tapping screws provided.
3) Mount the unlocking lever (Figure # 39, Item # 3) to the two (2) holes on the interlock arm
of the door lock.
4) Insert the emergency key supplied and test the unlocking device.
