Operation
4.9.3.1 Manual or indirect calibration
Readjustment of the measured value. For this purpose, previously the free chlorine had
been measured by DPD1.
It is recommended to perform the first manual calibration with a solution that does not
contain chlorine and after that repeat the calibration using a solution with known chlorine
concentration.
1. From the main menu select CALIBRATE. Confirm.
2. Select the channel to calibrate and confirm.
3. Select CAL. REFERENCE VALUE and confirm.
Note: The manual calibration does not cause any change in the stage of the relays and the 4-20 mA
output. During calibration the instrument still regulates.
4. Adjust the measured value using the keypad.
5. Press OK to accept calibration.
Note: Bear in mind that the electrode response is slow.
4.9.3.2 Reset calibration
It erases the calibration data in memory and returns to the calibration data from factory.
1. From the main menu select CALIBRATE. Confirm.
2. Select the channel and confirm.
3. Select RESET CALIBRATION and confirm.
Note: Prior measure, it is obligatory to carry out a calibration against DPD1.
Note: The theoretical calibration does not cause any change in the stage of the relays and the 4-20
mA output.
4.9.4 Measurement
The display shows the chlorine concentration in ppm measured by chlorine sensor and the
temperature.
Temperature readjustment, see detailed information on 4.16, Page 54.
4.9.5 Galvanic sensor
The model 53 59 is a galvanic cell for measurement of free chlorine in water.
Sensor installation
The electrode is delivered ready for installation. It must be installed in bypass. It is
supplied with connection joints of 8 mm. Minimum flow: 90-100 L/h. Refer to Figure 20
Chlorine sensor installation, page 38.
It is obligatory to install a filter before the sensor. It is recommended as well to install a
rotary meter ensuring the flow.
Startup
When the sensor is installed for the first time or the instrument has been disconnected
from the power supply, the user should wait at least 30 min before calibration or start of
regulation. This time can me programmed in “Regulation Delay”, see 4.4.2 Configuration
modification, page 22.
