CHECKING PARKING BRAKE (AA)
1. Park the vehicle on level ground
and apply the parking brake rmly.
2. Stop the engine, raise the cargo
bed and support it with the support
rod (In case the hydraulic dumping
kit is installed, raise the car go bed
before stopping the engine.).
3. Adjust the length of the parking
brake cable. Test the cable ac

cording to the procedures de-
scribed previously and then adjust
its length as necessary.

4. Measure the thickness of the pads
on the sides of the parking brake
disc If any of the pads are close to
0.04 in. (1 mm), both pads should
be replaced.
5. After replacing the pads, test the
parking brake and adjust the cable
length accordingly.
6. Check if the parking brake disc is
not worn abnormally.

The vehicle should be stopped
on a slope (up to 10 degrees)
when the parking brake is ful-
ly applied. With cargo loaded.
When driving the vehicle downhill
without depressing the accelera-
tor pedal, there should be no fric-
tion resistance. In order to keep
the parking brake in the best con-
dition, check the parking brake
with the following procedure.
