WARNING
The electronic boards contained within the Electronics Pod are static-
sensitive. It is therefore of great importance to ensure that
appropriate action is taken to minimise the potential for such damage.
For this purpose it is generally accepted for anyone in contact with the
Pod to wear an anti-static wristband, complete with a 1M
line
impedance, connected to a good earth potential point. Failure to
follow these precaution measures could result in premature
degradation in system performance.
End Cap and Chassis Assembly Removal
It is important to keep the contents of the Electronics Pod dry; hence any
major work conducted on the Pod should take place in a dry workshop. In
many cases it is acceptable to leave the pressure vessel on the frame, and
simply remove the end-cap and chassis assembly to the workshop. The vessel
clamps will need removing as the pressure vessel will need to be moved away
from the edge of the frame to allow the end cap and chassis assembly to be
lifted clear.
To remove the end-cap and chassis assembly:
1. Ensure the power is removed from the system, and appropriate
action is taken to prevent accidental energisation,
2. Remove all the cables from the pod’s connectors,
3. Remove the M12 Nuts that fasten the vessel clamps in place and
remove the clamps
4. Move the vessel approximately 100mm towards the centre of the
frame
5. Remove the M6 cap bolts from around the end cap,
6. Fit two M6x60 cap bolts to the jacking holes, and systematically turn
them, jacking the entire end cap and chassis out of the vessel,
7. Carefully lift the entire assembly out of the vessel,
8. Place an appropriate blanking plate over the open vessel to keep any
water out.
