Installing the drive backplane
Prerequisites
1. Follow the safety guidelines listed in the Safety instructions.
2. Follow the procedure listed in the Before working inside your system.
3. Remove the backplane cover.
4. Remove all drives.
5. If required, remove NVMe connector blank.
6. If installed, remove rear mounting front PERC module.
7. Disconnect the drive backplane cables from the connector on the system board and backplane.
NOTE: Route the cable properly when you replace it to prevent the cable from being pinched or crimped.
Steps
1. Align the slots on the drive backplane with the guides on the system.
2. Slide and lower the drive backplane into the guides and ensure that the bottom of the drive backplane is engaged with the
system metal hooks.
3. Route the cables properly through the cable guide.

Next steps
1. Connect the drive backplane cables to the connector on the system board and backplane.
2. If removed, install NVMe connector blank.
3. If removed, install rear mounting front PERC module and route the cables back to PERC module.
4. Install all drives.
5. Install the drive backplane cover.
6. Follow the procedure listed in After working inside your system.
