• Static — Manually-added route.
•
DHCP — DHCP-supplied route.

Next Hop — IP address to which the packet is forwarded on the route
to the destination address. This is typically the address of a
neighboring switch.

Metric — Cost of the destination. See description in IPv4 Default
Metric for Default Routes for Layer 2 + Static Routing
2 Click Edit, Add and enter the required fields (these are described above).
For devices that always support Layer 2 + Static Routing
To add an IPv4 static route:

Click Network Administration > Route Settings > IPv4 Route Settings
> IPv4 Routes Tables
.
The following fields are displayed:

IP Address — Destination IPv4 prefix. If all zeros are entered, this
represents a default route.

Prefix Length — Length of the destination IPv4 address prefix.

Interface — Interface on which route is defined.
–
Default Gateway — Gateway for this interface.
–
Type — The possible options are:
•
Static — User defined the IP address of the default gateway.
•
DHCP — The IP address of the default gateway is received from
the DHCP server.
2 Click Add and enter the required fields (that are described above).
IPv4 Default Metric for Default Routes for Layer 2 + Static Routing
An IPv4 default route can be assigned on in-band interfaces statically or by a
DHCP server. The following behavior is supported:
• The default metric for static assignment is 1
• The default metric for DHCP assignment is 253
The maximum metric value is 255.
