REDUCERS AND DIFFERENTIAL AXLES
Figures illustrated are only an indication and may not corre-
spond to those parts mounted on your vehicle.
References made to the maintenance inlets, refer to pages,
(fig.56/D-(fig.57/D), where two standard axles have been
described for more accurate identication.
Reducer
Oil change (g.53/D)
1. Stop the vehicle on aat, level surface with differential
oil still hot.
2. Switch off the engine and remove the ignition key, hang up
a sign in the cab that reads “maintenance work under way”.
3. Place a container under the drain plugs to collect any oil
which may come out during replacement.
4. Remove the drain plug (g.53/D Pos.”G1”) and the load-
ing/level plug (g.53/D Pos.”F1”) to carry out a complete
drainage.
5. Allow the oil to completely drain out.
6. Replace the drain plugs and tighten them securely.
7. Pour an approved type of clean oil into the loading/level
plug (g.53/D Pos.”F1”).
8. The level is correct when oil comes out of the loading/
level plug (g.53/D Pos.”F1”).
9. Check for any leaks coming from the drain plugs.
10. Replace the load/level cap and tighten it securely.
Front/Rear Differential Axles
Oil change (g.54/D)
