5 – TRANSPORT AND STORAGE
Always keep the packaging in a vertical position.
This model's pumps are individually packaged; customised packaging can be realised only upon request.
As per standard, the customer chooses the carrier; the customer and the carrier will be responsible for
transport.
5.1 - Pump delivery
Verify the package’s condition before opening it, because, if visibly
damaged, the user must immediately contest the fact with the carrier.
Subsequently, carefully verify its contents in order to locate and promptly
communicate any damage resulting from transport or handling operations.
5.2 - Lifting and handling
Having to lift the packaging, it is essential for the operator to assess the container features, the route to
be travelled or assess the need for other operators to transport the load better.
To lift the load, even if it is not heavy, use trucks with a minimum capacity higher than the
declared weight of the pump complete with packaging.
Personnel in charge of handling the load must wear protective gloves and accident-prevention
shoes.
5.3 - Material storage
The pumps must be stored in compliance with the following requirements:
- Avoid environments with excessive humidity and exposed to weathering (exclude outdoor areas).
Prevent excessive temperature changes from causing condensation to form inside the packaging and
the pump components.
- Avoid direct contact of the gearbox with the ground
- be maintained at relative humidity <60%, absence of strong temperature fluctuations, direct ultraviolet
and solar light and in case of low temperatures (RT < -5°C).
- Fill the unit completely with oil. If the pump were to remain out of service for long periods of time,
especially before restarting, it is recommended to place the material safely inside its package and fill
the gearbox completely with oil (see chap. 9 Lubrication) in order to avoid oxidising of internal
components.
- The appropriate level must be restored during unit commissioning.
- Apply plenty of grease and/or suitable protective and water-repellent products in order to prevent the
shaft and rubber parts from deteriorating.
- Periodically rotate the shafts to prevent sticking of the oil seals.
- For storage periods longer than 6 months, cover all external processed parts with a protective
antioxidant.
The equipment must be stored in a dry, ventilated environment, away from heat sources and at a
temperature ranging between +5°C and +40°C.
