volume. At his/her discretion, the customer may install other types of flowmeters deemed more
appropriate for his/her plant.
8.7 - Back pressure valve
The back pressure valve is required to prevent the spontaneous passage of liquid (siphoning) in
conditions in which the suction tank level is higher than that of discharge.
In order to function properly, the dosing pump requires a pressure of at least 2 bar.
8.8 - Shut-off valve in the discharge pipe
The shut-off valve is used to shut-down the flow of dosed liquid by closing the pump's discharge line
The dosing pumps are reciprocating displacement pumps and the pumping effect is independent of the
discharge line. If the discharge line can be cut off or its resistance varied, very high pressures can
develop that are potentially dangerous for the integrity of the system, resulting in possible explosions,
projection of objects and liquid leaks
The installation of safety devices in the system is strongly recommended, e.g. pressure relief valves or
rupture discs when there is a shut-off valve in the discharge pipe and, in any case, in the presence of
dangerous, toxic or flammable fluids.
9 - LUBRICATION
Due to transport requirements, the pump is supplied without
lubricant oil.
Before starting, the operator must fill the oil, with the pump placed
in its final position, referring to the centre line of the level indicator.
The pump does not have any other points to be lubricated,
therefore, the oil quantity shown in the table is sufficient to ensure
proper lubrication. The indicator on the side of the pump shows the
correct amount of oil.
• Please note that lubricants are toxic products harmful to health.
• If placed in direct contact with the skin they may cause irritations.
• If inhaled they may cause severe poisoning.
It is therefore recommended to handle them carefully by using appropriate protective clothing.
The type of oil we recommend inserting in the gearbox must have the following characteristics:
high viscosity index and cold flowing defined with the abbreviation:
