Operation
44 Instructions for use Polaris 600
When using two or more lights to illuminate the
operating field, the user must observe the following
to ensure the total permitted irradiance is not
exceeded:
Set the lights to the minimum illuminance
required for appropriate illumination of the
operating field. If a higher illuminance is only
required temporarily, reduce the illuminance as
soon as it is no longer needed.
If the maximum or nearly maximum illuminance
of a light is required, make sure that the
illuminance of the other lights is reduced and
that they do not directly illuminate the operating
field.
Operating room with low-turbulence
displacement flow (laminar flow)
When using lights in an operating room with low-
turbulence displacement flow, the user of the light
must take note of the following:
The light heads must be positioned as far as
possible from the operating field (without
impairing the optimum illuminance as a result).
WARNING
Risk of patient injury
In patients with skin photosensitivity (also
temporarily induced by foreign substances
such as drugs), tissue damage may result.
There are suitable countermeasures (e.g.,
covering tissue) that can be taken with
patients.
CAUTION
Risk of personal injury
The user's eyes can be damaged by direct
exposure to light.
Do not look directly into the light field.
CAUTION
Risk of collision of light heads
If the light heads are positioned above one
another during operation, they may collide.
Do not position the light heads above one
another.
CAUTION
Risk of overheating of light heads
If the light heads are positioned during operation
in such a way that their light fields illuminate
other light heads, these may overheat.
A light head must not illuminate any other light
head.
NOTE
A distance of 100 cm (39.37 in) from the bottom
glass of the light to the operating field is
recommended to achieve the optimum
illumination of the operating field.
