Instructions for use Polaris 600 43
Operation
Positioning a light system
Positioning the lights so that the surgeon and the
sterile OR personnel can easily reach the sterile
handle is recommended.
When the lights are positioned in this way, the non-
sterile OR personnel can reach the integrated
handle in order to make further adjustments if
required.
With central axes with more than one swivel arm,
make sure that the various arms and their devices
are not all aligned in the same direction. The
positioning of several swivel arms on one side can
result in tilting or unintended drifting of the swivel
arms.
The figure shows an example of how a
combination of 2 lights can be positioned to
achieve suitable illumination of the operating field.
The main surgical light (A) is positioned
laterally above the surgeon's shoulder to
ensure that the sterile operating field (B) is fully
illuminated.
The second light (C) is positioned at the foot of
the operating table.
The figure shows an example of how a
combination of 3 lights and a display can be
positioned to achieve suitable illumination of the
operating field.
The main surgical light (D) is positioned
laterally above the surgeon's shoulder to
ensure that the sterile operating field (E) is fully
illuminated.
The second light (F) is positioned at the foot of
the operating table.
The third light (G) is positioned at the side of
the operating table.
The display (H) is positioned at the head of the
operating table.

WARNING
Risk of patient injury
If the normal protective responses of the
patient’s eyes are not possible (e.g., due to
drugs or loss of consciousness), the
unprotected eye may be damaged by direct
exposure to light.
Position the light so that the light field is not
directed towards the unprotected eyes of the
patient.
