From the DSE Gencomm protocol document, the following shows the location of the “Oil
Temperature” instrument which is read from the CAN ECU of engines that support this feature.
This is taken from Page 4 Basic Instrumentation. Therefore the Page parameter is set to “4”.

instrument, in this
case 2.
Sign parameter is set to
Signed. This is
identified by the “S”
after the number of bits.
Size is set to 16 bits.
This means that every 1 ºC is
stored in the DSE controller as “1”
(ie the DSE controller records ºC).
When selecting this instrument for
display in the DSEWebNet system,
select “1” for the Scalar parameter
‘scaling’ needs to take place to
display it correctly.
