NOTE: Synchronizers sets are disassembled and
assembled during the mainshaft disassembly and
assembly, whose instructions in this manual provide
the necessary details.
Characteristics
EA(B)O-6X06 transmissions use two types of synchronizer
sets, all mounted on the mainshaft:
Synchronizer with synchronizing rings of the “Tricone”
type, used in the 1st and 2nd speed gear
Synchronizer with single synchronizer ring, one for each
gear, used in the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th speed gears.
NOTE: In case of repair of a synchronizer set, do
not replace parts separately. Always replace the
whole set.
The Tricone-type synchronizer ring consists of three rings
mounted one inside the other: an inner ring, a middle ring and
an outer ring. This provides a larger contact area, allowing
for a more accurate speed equalization between the gears,
making downshifting easier and smoother.
