Fiber Optic Connections (SFP)
About SFP Connections
Each of the device's optional SFP transceivers can connect directly to a CPE at
the subscriber’s premises. The transceiver sockets require multimode duplex
fiber optic cable with an LC connector at the device end.
The connector used at the other end of the cable depends on the target device:
When connecting to a CPE, the fiber cable is normally hard-wired directly
to the device.
When connecting to another switch or networking device, then an LC
connector is required.
Each 1000BASE-LX/LH and 100BASE-LX/EX single-mode fiber port
requires 9/125 micron single-mode fiber optic cable.
Each 1000BASE-SX and 100BASE-FX multimode fiber optic port requires
50/125 or 62.5/125 micron multimode fiber optic cabling.
1000BASE-SX/LX/LH and 100BASE-FX/LX/EX use duplex fiber,
operating at the same wavelength for both transmit and receive signals (SX:
850 nm, LX: 1310 nm, LH: 1550 nm).
NOTE: When selecting an SFP fiber transceiver, make
sure that it can function at the same temperature levels of
AS9216 and that it is Laser Class 1 approved.
The SFP transceivers are hot-swappable and there is no need to power off the
device. However, always disconnect their network cable before removing a
transceiver.
