Field Operation
Preliminary information
The hay tedder is an agricultural implement used to
spread, aerate, and turn over any type of previously
cut forage. This allows early and uniform drying
of the product which ensures high-quality forage.
Once completely desiccated, it is harvested by a
baling process.
Figure 28
The hay tedder can be of two types: mounted or
pull-type. The mounted operates as installed on
a tractor equipped with a three-point universal
hitch with hydraulic lifter. The pull-type operates as
installed to a tractor towing hook.
Both models operate as the tractor pulls them
through cut forage. The rotation of the working
units, provided by a PTO shaft, aerate and turn
over the material [Figure 28].
Before each start-up of the tractor, it is important
to follow the precautions described in “Safety” on
page 9. Remember that the hay tedder is to be
used by a qualified operator, of age and trained for
its use and operations. Operators must know the
instructions in this manual, those reported on the
adhesive labels, and all other regulations.

Connect the tedder to the tractor. See “Connecting
To Tractor” on page 24 and “Connecting The PTO
Driveline on page 27.
