16.12 Setting up a Guard Zone
Alarm
A Guard Zone can be setup in the Radar application
to alert you if any Radar returns are detected within
a specied zone. The Radar Guard Zone is specic
to the Radar scanner in use.
2 types of Guard Zone are available:
• Sector — A Sector of a specied size and position
• Circle/Ring — A Circle/Ring centred around your
vessel, with a specied outer and inner perimeter.
From the Radar application menu:
1. Select Collision Avoidance.
The Guard Zone Alarm page is displayed.
2. Enable the Guard Zone using the toggle switch
at the top of the page.
3. Select either the Sector or Circle/Ring graphic to
determine the shape of the Guard Zone.
The current Guard Zone setting will be displayed
on the page.
4. Select Adjust Zone.
5. Adjust the Guard Zone settings to change the
size and position of the Guard Zone as required.
Guard zone width and bearing can only be
adjusted when the Guard Zone shape is set to
Sector.
6. Adjust the Sensitivity settings to the required
value.
The Sensitivity setting determines the size at
which objects will be identied as targets, a lower
setting will identify less targets.
7. Select Back or Close to close the Guard Zone
Adjustment menu.

When the Guard Zone is selected the context menu
provides the following menu options.
• Acquire Target.
• Adjust Zone
• Hide Guard Zone / Show Guard Zone
Accessing the context menu
1. Non-touchscreen and HybridTouch displays:
i. Move the cursor over the area or object and
pressing the OK button.
2. HybridTouch and Touch only displays:
i. Select and hold on an area or object, or
ii. With the Chart Call-out displayed select the
Call-out box.
