Fluid expansion reservoir
Attached to the Bath rear panel is the fluid expansion reservoir. The reservoir receives excess
fluid that expands in the Bath when heating to higher temperatures. Any liquid expands when
heated. To prevent Bath overflow, you must remove the excess fluid prior to heating or there
must be a means to allow the fluid to drain out of the Bath tank.
Note
Never let the fluid level go below the heating elements.
The Bath has an overflow tube attached to the tank that extends to the rear of the Bath and
drains into the fluid expansion reservoir. The reservoir has enough capacity to cover a large
range of thermal expansion rates for different fluids. Do not plug the overflow tube to prevent fluid
from draining. Do not fill the Bath to a level higher than the overflow tube level.
The fluid expansion reservoir is stainless steel with an aluminum heat shield to prevent touching
the hot tank. A stainless steel dust cover is over the reservoir and includes an elbow on top
where the drain tube is inserted. The reservoir hangs on a hook and attaches to the Bath with a
thumbscrew.
:W Warning
To prevent personal injury, know that the drain tube and dust cover can be hot.
Always be sure the drain tube is fully inserted into the elbow of the dust cover.
To drain fluid from the reservoir:
1. Remove the dust cover and set aside.
2. Loosen the thumbscrew and carefully lift the reservoir with the two handles on the back.
3. Pour the fluid back into the Bath when it cools, or pour it into another approved container.
:W Warning
To prevent personal injury, use care when you handle hot fluids, burns can result.
Once you remove the excess fluid, reverse the process to replace the reservoir
and dust cover. Always wipe away spilled fluid.
