IEEE-488 Setup (Optional)
Baths can be fitted with an IEEE-488 GPIB interface option. To use the IEEE-488 interface,
connect an IEEE-488 standard cable to the back of the Bath, set the device address, and set the
transmission termination character.
Use the option to set the interface address and the transmission-termination character within the
IEEE-488 Parameter menu (
IEEE). The GPIB type communication bus allows many instrument
connections and simultaneous control of those instruments. Use a shielded GPIB cable to
eliminate noise.
IEEE-488 Parameters
This menu appears in the Serial Interface Parameter menu only on Baths fitted with the interface.
To enter the IEEE-488 parameter programming menu:
1. Push UP repeatedly until the IEEE-488 interface menu (
IEEE) shows.
2. Push SET to enter menu.
IEEE-488 Address
You must configure the IEEE-488 interface to use the same address as the external
communication device.
To change the address (
AddrESS):
1. Push SET to access the address setting.
Add= 22 Current IEEE-488 interface address
2. Push UP or DOWN to adjust the address.
3. Push SET to store the address.
Commands can now be sent with the IEEE-488 interface to read or set the temperature, or
access other controller functions. All commands are ASCII character strings and are terminated
with a carriage-return (CR, ASCII 13). See Interface Commands.
Transmission Termination
The transmission termination character can be set to carriage return only, linefeed only, or
carriage return (
Cr) and linefeed (LF). Regardless of the option selected, the Product interprets
either a carriage return or a linefeed as a command termination (
EOS) during reception.
To change the parameter:
1. Push SET to access the termination parameter.
E=Cr Current IEEE-488 termination
2. Push UP or DOWN to change the selection.
3. Push SET to store the new selection.
