4.3.3 Aircraft control
Elios orientation and maneuver are defined regarding to the inner frame. It is very important that whilst
piloting, the operator makes an abstraction of the cage.
The control of Elios is mapped to the control sticks by default in mode 2. It is defined as follow:

Explanation
In
Automatic Altitude
control:
Moving the left stick up and down change Elios’
elevation.
Up increases height.
Down decreases height.
Centered, Elios keeps its altitude.
In
Manual Thrust
control:
Moving the left stick up and down change Elios’
thrust power.
Up increases thrust power
Down decreases thrust power
In this mode, centered stick doesn’t allow Elios to
hover. The pilot has to gives constant inputs to
maintain the aircraft at the desired height.
In any mode, to takeoff, push slightly up.
Moving the left stick right and left control the
rotation of Elios.
Left make the aircraft rotate counter clockwise.
Right make the aircraft rotate clockwise
Centered, Elios keeps its orientation.
At anytime, the pilot shall keep its orientation
awareness. All the horizontal translation are
relative to Elios’ orientation.
Moving the right stick up and down controls the
pitch of Elios making the aircraft going forward or
backward.
Up makes the aircraft go forward.
Down makes the aircraft go backward.
Centered, Elios keeps its position.
Moving the right stick left and right controls the
roll of Elios making the aircraft going to the left or
to the right.
Left makes the aircraft go to the left
Right makes the aircraft go to the right
Centered, Elios keeps its position.
