Working with the notebook
LCD screen
LCDscreenNotes
High-quality TFT displays are installed in notebooks from Fujitsu Technology Solutions Gmb H. For
technical reason s, TFT monitors are manufactured for a specific resolution. An optimal, clear
picture can only be ensured with the correct resolution intended for the relevant T FT monitor. A
monitor resolution w hich differs from the specification can result in an unclear picture.
The screen resolution of the LCD monitor of your noteboo k is optimally set at the factory.
Permanently u nlit or lit pixels
The standard of production techniques today cannot guarantee an absolutely fault-free screen
display. A few isolated const antly lit or unlit pixels may be present. The maximum p ermitted number
of such faulty pixels is stipulated in the strict international stand ard ISO 13406-2 (Class II).
Example:
A LCD screen monitor with a resolution of 1024 x 600 has 1 024 x 600 = 614 400 pixels. Each pixel
consists of three subpixels (red, green and blue), so there are almost 1.8 million subpixels in total.
According to ISO 13406-2 (Class II), a maximum of 2 pixe ls and 3 subpixels may be defective, i.e. a
total of 9 defective subpixels. That is approximately 0.0005 % of the entire number of subpixels.
Backgroun d lighting
TFT monitors are operated with background lighting. The luminosity of the background
lighting can d ecrease during the period of use of the note book. Ho wever, you can
set the brightness of your monitor individually.

Webcam
Webcam
Your notebook is equipped with a webcam. Depending on the software used, you can use
it to take pictures, record video clips or take part in web chats.
• The picture quality depends on the lighting c onditions and the software being used.
• You can only o perate the webcam with a particular ap plication (e.g. a n Internet telephony
program or a video conferencing program which supports a webcam).
• When using the webcam the notebook support must not w obble.
• The webcam automatically adjusts itself to the cu rren t light level. For this reason
the LCD screen may flicke r while the light level is adjusted.
Further information on use of the webcam and additional settings can be found
in the help function o f the program w hich uses the webcam.
