during servicing
Preparing to remove components
If you are going to re move or ch ange system components, prepare for the remo val as follows:
Please observe the safety information in chapter "Important notes", Page 6.
Remove the power plug from the mains outlet !
► Sw itch the device off.
The device must not be in energy-saving m od e !
► C lose the LCD screen.
► R emove all the cables from the device.
► Turn the device over and place it on a stable, flat and clean surface. If necessary, lay an
anti-slip cloth on this surf ace to pre vent the device from being scratched.
► R emove the battery (see "
Removing a battery", Page 25).
Installing and removing memory expansion

If you are asked by the Hotline/Help Desk to remove and install the memory
expansion module yourself, proceed a s follows:
Please observe the safety information in chapter "Important notes", Page 6.
The notebook must be switch ed off when installing/removing memory modules
and it must not be in one of the power saving modes.
Only use memory expansion modules that have been approved for your
notebook (see "
Technical data", Pag e 59).
Never use force when installing or removing a mem ory extension.
Make sure that foreign objects do not fall into the memory extension compartment.
The memory module is located unde
rneath the service compartment. You must o pen the service
compartment to remove or install
a memory m odule. Once you have removed the cover,
the various components are expo
sed. These components should be r emoved and replaced
only by authorised specialist
s. Therefore, be sure to observe the following:
Individual components (e.g.
the processor heat sink) can become very h ot
during operation. Therefore
, we recommend that you wait one hour a fter
switching off the notebook b
efore removing or installing m emory modules.
Otherwise, there is a risk of
suffering burns!
