      If the scanned image is chipped, slant lines are produced, or the output image is wider than the original, and "Automatic detection" is selected in the "Paper size" drop-down list, the document may have been skewed during a scan. Neatly align the edges of paper sheets with Side Guide. If you are scanning documents of mixed paper sizes, marking the "Scan mixed paper size" checkbox, carefully load smaller documents so that they can be fed straight. If those documents cannot be fed straight, it is recommended to scan only documents of about the same size at a time.

      First, ensure the AC/USB cable and AC adapter are correctly connected. If it doesn't help, disconnect and then reconnect the AC cable and AC adapter, waiting at least 5 seconds before reconnecting the AC cable. Also, make sure the paper chute is open. Wait until Windows has completely started up, as the LED will turn off during startup or in sleep mode. Finally, ensure you press the [POWER] button.

      First, ensure the USB cable is correctly connected, checking the hub's power if one is in use. If issues persist, disconnect and reconnect the AC cable and AC adapter, waiting at least 5 seconds before reconnecting. If the ScanSnap Manager icon isn't visible, start it manually via [Start] -> [All Programs] -> [ScanSnap Manager] -> [ScanSnap Manager]. As an alternative, you can try performing "Scan for hardware changes" or "Refresh" from Device Manager. If problems continue, disconnect and reconnect the AC cable and AC adapter, waiting at least 5 seconds. If a USB hub is being used, connect the scanner directly to your PC. If your PC has multiple USB ports, try connecting the scanner to a different port. Finally, restart your PC.

      The scanning speed might be slow if your PC doesn't meet the recommended system requirements. If this is the case, at [Scanning] - [Option] in the "Scan and Save Settings" window, clear the checkboxes of the following to increase the scanning speed: Correct skewed character strings automatically and Allow automatic image rotation. Also, if the scanner is connected via USB 1.1, and your PC has a USB 2.0 port, connect the scanner to the USB 2.0 port. If using a USB hub, ensure it also supports USB 2.0 interfaces.

      If the document is not fed properly or gets jammed, it may be because the inside of the scanner is dirty, or you are scanning thin, torn, or folded paper. Clean the dirty locations. For problematic documents, use the Carrier Sheet for each page.

      If the scanner is not recognized even after ScanSnap Manager is installed, and the scanner was connected to your PC before installing ScanSnap Manager, and is registered as "Other device" in the "Device Manager", on the [Start] menu, select [Control panel] -> [System] -> [Hardware] -> [Device Manager]. Delete the device name such as USB device (differs with the OS) under "Other Device" selection in the [Device Manager] and restart your PC.
