2. System setup(ALARM)
2.2 Alarm setup
“Alarm setup” sets ON/OFF of internal and external incoming alarm in signal reception and alarm
regarding the update of position data.
Pressing [#/SETUP] key reveals “Setup menu” screen. Select “ALARM” and press [ENT] key. Then,
the following “Alarm setup” screen appears.

This item sets Alarm ON/OFF of the buzzer and external speaker.
* RCVD CALL: ON/OFF (Default setting: ON)
This item sets ON/OFF of the signal reception alarm buzzer and external speaker that
sounds when receiving calls that belongs to the DSC reception message categories of
SAFETY, SHIP BUSINESS, and ROUTINE. When receiving signals that belongs to
the categories of DISTRESS and URGENCY, the alarm can not be set to OFF.
* OLD POSITON: ON/OFF (Default setting: ON)
This item sets ON/OFF of the alarm buzzer and external speaker that sounds when the
ship position is not updated after the time set in “POSITION OLDER” of the follow-
ing setting item has passed, whether “INPUT TYPE” of POSITION in “Setup menu”
may be set at MANUAL or AUTO.

This item is set at “4.0, 3.0, 2.0, 1.0, or 0.5 H”. The default setting is “4.0 H”.
If the ship position is not updated when “INPUT TYPE” of POSITION in “Setup menu” is
set at MANUAL, the alarm buzzer and external speaker sounds out.
This setting specifies the allowable excessive time in which the ship position is not updated,
and if this time has passed, the alarm occurs. The regulation requires the alarm if it has
passed four hours.
When “INPUT TYPE” of POSITION in “Setup menu” is set at AUTO, and if NMEA data is
interrupted for more than one minute, “EPFS error!” is displayed and the buzzer and external
speaker sounds out.
