2.8 Volume setup
This item sets volumes of alarm sound, key click sound, and handset sound.
Pressing [#/SETUP] key reveals “Setup menu” screen. Select VOLUME, and press [ENT] key. Then,
the following “Volume setup” screen appears.
1. KEY CLICK (Default setting: ON)
This item sets ON/OFF of keyboard click sound. The click sound comes from the buzzer. If key-
board operation is right, it sounds “bleep”, and if not, “bleep, bleep, bleep”.
2. HANDSET (Default setting:32)
This item adjusts handset sound volume. Adjust the volume with left and right cursor keys while
listening to the sound. The adjusting range is from 0 to 63.
3. ORDINARY ALARM (Default setting: 8)
This item adjusts the volume of alarm sound that occurs when DSC message category of “Safety,
Ships business, and Routine” is received or when the ship position is not updated. Adjust the volume
with the left and right arrow keys while listening to the sound of the external speaker. The adjusting
range is from 0 to 63.
Note) ON/OFF setting of the alarm sound of “RCVD CALL” is included in ALARM setting
of “Setup menu”.
4. DISTRESS ALARM (Default setting: 8)
This item adjusts the volume of alarm sound that occurs when receiving DSC message category of
“Distress and Urgency” or during the transmitting sequence of distress signals. Adjust the volume
with the left and right cursor keys while listening to the sound of the external speaker. The adjusting
range is from 8 to 63.
