3.4.3 Load cells
Description
Load cells measure and record the weight of the mixer. Load cells are not a structural
load bearing component.
Load cells must be protected when the mixer is moved, for example during re-arrange-
ment of a manufacturing line. Before moving the mixer, the jacking bolts must be en-
gaged. The jacking bolts lift the mixer vessel up, lock it and take the load off from the
load cells, thereby preventing the damage to the load cells. The jacking bolts must be
disengaged during mixer operation, so that the vessel weight can be monitored.
The accuracy of the mixer weight measurement should be verified when the mixer has
been moved a short distance (for example during cleaning).
Load cells are an optional component.
