CONTROLS & SAFETY EQUIPMENT
CAUTION
Become familiar with and know how to use ALL
safety devices and controls on the skid loader
BEFORE operating it. Know how to stop loader
operation BEFORE starting it. This Gehl skid
loader is designed and intended to be used
ONLY with a Gehl Company attachment or a
Gehl Company approved accessory or referral
attachment. The Gehl Company cannot be
responsible for safety if the loader is used with
a non-approved attachment.
Guards and Shields
Whenever possible and without affecting loader
operation, guards and shields are used to protect
potentially hazardous areas. In many places, decals are
also provided to warn of potential dangers and/or to
display special operating procedures.
WARNING
Read and thoroughly understand ALL safety
decals on the loader BEFORE operating it. DO
NOT operate the loader unless ALL
factory-installed guards and shields are
properly secured in place.
Controls
Your loader could be equipped with either “T-Bar,”
“Hand & Foot” or “Dual Hands” controls. Hand &
Foot controls can be equipped with either electric or
mechanical auxiliary controls. Follow the
instructions appropriate for your loader type.
Throttle Lever and Accelerator Pedal
(Fig. 5-1)
A right-hand controlled throttle lever is provided on all
models for adjusting the engine RPM.
A right-foot operated accelerator pedal on the T-Bar and
Dual Hand controlled loaders controls the engine RPM
to match increased power requirements. The pedal
linkage is spring-loaded to return to the adjusted
hand-operated throttle setting.
