Maintenance
WARNING
To
reduce the risk of
serious injury
, including fluid in
-
jection
or splashing in the eyes or on the skin, or injury
from moving parts, always follow the Pressure Re-
lief Procedure Warning, below, before checking,
adjusting,
cleaning or
shutting down the sprayer
.
Dis-
connect
the spark plug!
CAUTION
For
detailed engine maintenance and specifications,
refer
to the separate engine manual, supplied.
DAILY: Check
the engine oil level and
fill as necessary
.
DAILY: Check
and fill the gas tank.
AFTER THE FIRST 20 HOURS OF OPERA
TION
Drain the oil and refill with clean oil.
WEEKLY:
Remove the cover of the air
filter and clean
the
element.
Replace the element, if necessary
. If operat
-
ing in an unusually dusty environment, check the filter
daily
and replace it, if necessary
.
Replacement
elements can be purchased from your
local
HONDA
dealer
.
WEEKLY: Check the level of the TSL in the displace-
ment pump packing nut. Fill the nut, if necessary. Keep
TSL
in the nut to help lubricate the pump packings.
AFTER EACH 100 HOURS OF OPERA
TION:
Change the oil.
SPARK
PLUG:
Use only an (NGK)
BP6ES or BPR6ES
plug.
Gap the plug to 0.025 to 0.030 in. (0.7 to 0.8
mm).
Use a spark plug wrench when installing and removing
the
plug.
Pressure Relief Procedure
To
reduce the
risk of serious injury
, including fluid injec
-
tion,
splashing fluid or solvent in the eyes or on the skin,
or injury from moving parts or electric shock, always fol
-
low this procedure whenever you shut off the sprayer,
when checking or servicing any part of the spray sys-
tem, when installing, cleaning or changing spray tips,
and
whenever you stop spraying.
1.
Engage the trigger safety latch.
2. T
urn the engine ON/OFF switch to OFF
.
3. T
urn the pressure control switch to OFF
.
4. Disengage
the trigger safety latch. Hold
a metal part
of
the gun firmly to the side of a grounded metal pail,
and
trigger the gun to relieve pressure.
5.
Engage the trigger safety latch.
6. Open the pressure drain valve. Leave the valve
open
until you are ready to spray again.
7.
Disconnect the spark plug cable.
If you suspect that the spray tip or hose is completely
clogged,
or that pressure has not been fully relieved af
-
ter following the steps above,
VERY SLOWLY loosen
the tip guard retaining nut or hose end coupling to re-
lieve pressure gradually, then loosen completely. Now
clear
the tip or hose.
