•Readandunderstandtheuidmanufacturer’swarningsandSafetyDataSheet(SDS)toknow
specichazardsandprecautionsrelatedtoisocyanates.
•Useofisocyanatesinvolvespotentiallyhazardousprocedures.Donotspraywiththis
equipmentunlessyouaretrained,qualied,andhavereadandunderstoodtheinformationin
thismanualandintheuidmanufacturer’sapplicationinstructionsandSDS.
•Useofincorrectlymaintainedormis-adjustedequipmentmayresultinimproperlycured
material,whichcouldcauseoffgassingandoffensiveodors.Equipmentmustbecarefully
maintainedandadjustedaccordingtoinstructionsinthemanual.
•Topreventinhalationofisocyanatemists,vaporsandatomizedparticulates,everyonein
theworkareamustwearappropriaterespiratoryprotection.Alwayswearaproperlytting
respirator,whichmayincludeasupplied-airrespirator.Ventilatetheworkareaaccordingto
instructionsintheuidmanufacturer’sSDS.
•Avoidallskincontactwithisocyanates.Everyoneintheworkareamustwearchemically
impermeablegloves,protectiveclothingandfootcoveringsasrecommendedbytheuid
manufacturerandlocalregulatoryauthority.Followalluidmanufacturerrecommendations,
includingthoseregardinghandlingofcontaminatedclothing.Afterspraying,washhands
andfacebeforeeatingordrinking.
•Hazardfromexposuretoisocyanatescontinuesafterspraying.Anyonewithoutappropriate
personalprotectiveequipmentmuststayoutoftheworkareaduringapplicationandafter
applicationforthetimeperiodspeciedbytheuidmanufacturer.Generallythistimeperiod
isatleast24hours.
•Warnotherswhomayenterworkareaofhazardfromexposuretoisocyanates.Followthe
recommendationsoftheuidmanufacturerandlocalregulatoryauthority.Postingaplacard
suchasthefollowingoutsidetheworkareaisrecommended:
