Condensation Trap (Continued):
[This area intentionally left blank]
It is the responsibility of the installer to advise and instruct the end user in how to
perform the condensation trap cleaning procedure and to advise that the trap be
inspected quarterly and cleaned as required.
DO NOT use copper, steel or galvanized piping to construct any part of the
condensate disposal system. Corrosive condensate will rot most materials.
DO NOT run condensate line outside or anywhere that it can freeze.
Test condensation to drain line to ensure no leaks are present after installation is
complete. Pour water into the Flue Gas Outlet Vent connection and observe flow
through trap and out drain line. Verify no leaks are present.
In the event of the condensation trap becoming plugged, condensation may run up
and into the heat exchanger and cause a burner failure. If this happens the
condensation trap, burner & heat exchanger will need to be inspected and cleaned.
The internal refractory, gaskets, flame sensor & direct spark igniter may need to be
replaced with Certified Replacement Parts from Gradient Thermal Inc. Failure to
properly inspect and repair will result in dangerous water heater operation resulting
in property damage, fire or loss of life.
