syncFURNACE OD Instruction & Installation Manual Rev 09 Pg. 52 of 81
9. COMMISSIONING >
Before placing the product into operation ensure;
1. Venting system is completely assembled and seal tested. Ensure venting system meets the
requirements of the Venting Installation sections in this manual. Ensure the pre-fire venting
procedure has been completed. Confirm that venting system is not shared with any other gas
burner appliance in the home. If using in retro-fit application, ensure old chimney holes are
properly closed off and sealed.
2. Prime condensation trap by pouring water into Flue Gas Outlet venting connection.
3. Perform condensation drain line leak test. Ensure that condensation properly flows from internal
trap to drain without overflowing.
4. Perform gas-line pressure test and ensure no gas leaks are present in both external & internal gas
piping of the product.
5. Check expansion tank pressure (if applicable), ensure pressure is correct to manufacturers
operating instructions.
6. Check for leaks on both external and internal water plumbing. Ensure stand-by pressure is
between 30 psi (2 bar) and 85 psi (6 bar).
7. Check control wiring, ensure wires are connected to correct terminal points. Ensure NO external
power source is applied to any of the leads.
8. Install Outdoor Sensor (optional) outside building on NORTH facing exterior wall. Verify on
controller screen that reading is consistent with actual outdoor temperature.
9. Perform Main 115Vac Power electrical continuity test. Ensure wires are connected to correct
terminal locations. Ensure chassis is properly grounded.
10. Follow the below requirements of the Commissioning section of this manual.
TESTING WATER PRESSURE:
syncFURNACE OD must be leak tested before being placed into operation. With the Main Power turned off,
perform the following steps to ensure there are no leaks in the plumbing system:
1. Fill system with potable water
2. Bleed air from manual air bleeder on top of fan-coil
3. Close syncFURNACE OD isolation valves and monitor the pressure on the pressure gauge.
4. Visually inspect both external piping and piping inside syncFURNACE OD for water leaks / drips.
5. If leak(s) are found, fix/repair immediately.
6. If pressure reading on pressure gauge doesn’t fall less 1 psi (.07 bar) and there are no visual water
leaks / drips on the external and inside pipe, Open the syncFURNACE OD fill valve.
TESTING NO GAS SAFETY:
With syncFURNACE OD front panel removed;
1. Close external gas shut-off valve.
2. Turn on fan-coil heat demand or open hot water tap.
3. Burner will attempt to ignite 3 times.
4. Verify at the end of the 3
rd
attempt that the combustion blower shuts off and a red alarm screen is
displayed on the controller with the text ALRM 4 showing in the top left corner.
5. Verify at the end of the 3
rd
attempt that the red led on the ignition module flashes 3 consecutive
times to indicate an ignition lock-out.
6. Ignition will remain locked out until a reset of the heat demand or main power to the product
occurs.
7. Once the above is verified, turn-off heat demand and open external gas shut-off valve.
