7. If values are within the range in the table turn-off heat demand, insert plug back into Combustion
Analyzer Measurement Port and return syncFURNACE OD back to normal operating condition –
ensure that “BURNER ORIDE” is set to “OFF”. There is no need to continue on to step 8. If
combustion readings are outside the acceptable range continue to step 8.
8. Check & verify chimney venting system is fully sealed. Ensure Combustion Air Intake and Flue Gas
Outlet spacing meets the requirements stated in the venting installation section of this manual.
9. Re-test combustion analysis at both MAX and MIN input. If readings still are not within acceptable
range –
10. Operate the burner at MAX input. With combustion analyzer inserted into Port ;
a. Insert a small flat-head screw driver or 2mm hex key into the Gas/Air Ratio Screw
i. To increase CO2%, turn screw counter-clockwise
ii. To decrease CO2%, turn screw clockwise
Note: Make adjustments slowly, there is a 30 – 60 second delay between adjustments and reading
the results on the combustion analyzer. It is recommended to make adjustment in ½ turn
increments and fine-tuning in smaller increments once close to target range.
b. Adjust until CO2% reading is within the acceptable range in the table on the previous page.
c. At MAX input clock the gas-meter to measure BTU/hr input and confirm with MAX burner
input on product rating plate – record actual value
11. Operate the burner at MIN input. With combustion analyzer inserted into Port ;
a. Insert a small flat-head screw driver or 2mm hex key into the Gas/Air Ratio Screw
i. To increase CO2%, turn screw counter-clockwise
ii. To decrease CO2%, turn screw clockwise
b. Adjust until CO2% reading is within the acceptable range in the above table
c. At MIN input clock the gas-meter to measure BTU/hr input and confirm with MIN burner
input on product rating plate – record actual value
12. Once combustion has been corrected and values are within the range in the above table turn-off
heat demand, insert plug back into Combustion Analyzer Measurement Port and return
syncFURNACE back to normal operating condition – ensure “BURNER ORIDE” is set to “OFF”.
A burner underfired by 5% is still acceptable. DO NOT overfire the water heater.
Always contact your gas utility to obtain the correct heating value before clocking the
gas-meter.
