Cruising in shallow water (manual
tilt models)
EWM01781
Run the boat at the lowest
possible speed when using the
shallow water cruising system. The tilt
lock mecha- nism does not work while
the shallow water cruising system is
being used. Hitting an underwater
obstacle could cause the outboard
motor to lift out of the water, resulting
in loss of control.
Use extra care when operating
in re- verse. Too much reverse thrust
can cause the outboard motor to lift
out of the water, increasing the chance
of ac- cident and personal injury.
shift lever in neutral.

NOTICE
Do not tilt the outboard motor up so that
the cooling water inlet on the lower unit
is above the surface of the water when
set- ting up for and cruising in shallow
water. Otherwise severe damage from
overheat- ing can result.
2. Place the tilt lock lever in the release/up
position.
