1. Gear oil drain screw

6. Put a new gasket on the oil level plug.
When the oil begins to flow out of the oil
level plug hole, insert and tighten the oil
 If a magnetic gear oil drain
screw is equipped, remove all metal
particles from the screw before installing
it.
 Always use new gaskets. Do not
reuse the removed gaskets.
4. Remove the oil level plug and gasket to
allow the oil to drain completely.
NOTICE: Check the used gear oil
after it has been drained. If the gear
oil is milky or contains water or a
large amount of metal particles, the
gear case may be damaged. Have a
Hidea dealer check and repair the
outboard motor. [ECM00713]
TIP:
For disposal of used oil, consult your Hidea
dealer.
5. Put the outboard motor in a vertical
posi- tion. Using a flexible or
pressurized fill- ing device, inject the
gear oil into the gear oil drain screw
hole.
Recommended gear oil:
Hypoid gear oil SAE#90
Gear oil quantity:
0.250 L (0.264 US qt, 0.220 Imp.qt)
level plug.
Tightening torque:
9 Nm (0.9 kgf-m, 6.6 ft-lb)
7. Put a new gasket on the gear oil drain
screw. Insert and tighten the gear oil
drain screw.

Inspecting and replacing anode(s)
Hidea outboard motors are protected from
corrosion by sacrificial anodes. Inspect the
external anodes periodically. Remove scales
from the surfaces of the anodes. Consult a
Hidea dealer for replacement of external
anodes.

NOTICE
Do not paint anodes, as this would render
them ineffective.
