Introduction
The N3680 scan engine is designed for integration into a wide range of OEM
devices. The scan engine’s compact mechanical design can drop into many exist-
ing applications, allowing OEMs and third-party manufacturers to integrate the
benefits of image-based scanning into a variety of devices, including hand held
computers, PDTs, medical instrumentation, kiosks, diagnostic equipment, and
robotics. The N3680 unit decodes linear, 2D, and postal codes.
The CF3680 is a 2D imager module designed to be integrated into fixed mount
enclosures, such as a self-service kiosk. It is optimized to read 1D and 2D bar
codes on mobile phone screens, coupons, loyalty cards or tickets at close reading
distances.
About This Manual
This User’s Guide provides demonstration and programming instructions for the
N3680 scan engine and CF3680 2D imager module.
Honeywell’s bar code scan engines are factory programmed for the most common
terminal and communications settings. If you need to change these setting, pro-
gramming is accomplished by scanning the bar codes in this guide.
An asterisk (*) next to an option indicates the default setting.
Unpack Your Device
After you open the shipping carton containing the OEM scan engine(s), take the
following steps:
• Check for damage during shipment. Report damage immediately to the carrier
who delivered the carton.
• Make sure the items in the carton match your order.
