Telephone Access
Telephone access is an optional feature that enables you to use a touch tone tele-
phone to check the status of your system; arm or disarm security and make some
changes in the telephone access operation.
The Menu System
Telephone access is accomplished using a menu system with voice instructions
leading you through choices. Use the telephone keypad to make selections. Use the
pound sign (#) to return to the previous menu and to end the session.
NOTE: If an alarm occurs while the telephone access system is being used, the
security system will seize the line to report the condition to the CSC.
Local Access
To gain access to your system froma telephone inside your home:
Pick up the receiver and press the star “*” button three times. The dial tone will
disappear, all of the local telephones will be disconnected from the telephone
company, and you will hear the status of your system. A passcode is not required to
access the system.
Remote Access
Whenever you contact your system, you will hear a status message that includes
security mode, condition of your protection and alarm information.
To gain access to your system from a telephone away from home:
If you do not have an answering machine or answering service from the tele-
phone company: Call your home telephone number. The telephone access system
will answer the telephone after the programmed number of rings selected when the
system was installed. Enter your remote access code at the short tone.
If you have an answering machine or answering service from the telephone
company: Call your home telephone number. Let the phone ring twice and hang up.
Dial the number again within 10 to 30 seconds. The telephone access system picks
up after the second ring.
Remote Access Passcode
Your remote access passcode is the same passcode you have selected for passcode
number five (5) on your security system keypad. Passcode number 5 is used by the
telephone access system to verify an authorized user. Select and change passscode
number 5 through the security system keypad at anytime using the Change Codes
selection on the security options menu.
