9.1 Installing the RPS1800 in a Cabinet or Rack
An RPS1800 is a redundant power supply system that provides power redundancy for
connected switches to ensure uninterrupted services. When the internal power supply of a
switch fails, the RPS1800 detects the power failure and supplies power to the switch
immediately. This allows the switch to continue operating, thereby ensuring service
continuity.
The RPS1800 can be installed in a cabinet or rack only. The installation procedure is the same
as that used for a switch of the same dimensions, which are (W x D x H) 442.0 mm x 310.0
mm x 43.6 mm (17.4 in. x 12.2 in. x 1.72 in.). For details, see 5.2.1 Using Front Mounting
Brackets.
NOTICE
l Before the installation, take ESD protective measures, for example, wear ESD gloves or an
ESD wrist strap.
l To allow sufficient airflow around the RPS1800, leave at least 50 mm (2.0 in.) clearance
behind and on both the left and right sides of the RPS1800.
l Align the mounting brackets on the left and right mounting rails. If they are not on a
horizontal line, forcibly mounting the RPS1800 may distort the chassis.
