Repair Instructions
WARNING!
If the spring tension is activated on
the starter pulley, the spring can fly
out and cause personal injury.
Use protective goggles.
7.1 Dismantling the starter

Loosen the four screws, which hold the starter
against the crankcase and remove the starter.

Undo the screw in the center of the pulley and
remove the pulley. Loosen the screws on the
cassette and remove the cassette and spring.
See gure 3.
Cleaning and inspection
Clean all components and check:
• The starter cord.
• That the starter pawls on the ywheel are
intact, i.e. that they spring back to the center
and move easily.
• Lubricate the return spring with a light oil.

Pull the cord out about 30 cm and lift it into the
notch on the outside of the starter pulley. Release
the tension in the return spring by letting the starter
pulley rotate anti-clockwise. See gures 1 and 2.
