7.23 Assembling the piston and cylinder

Oil the gudgeon pin bearing with two-stroke oil and
insert it into the crank rod. See gure 64.

Fit the piston with the arrow facing the exhaust
port, slide in the gudgeon pin and t the circlips.
NOTE! Use new circlips.

Fit the intake system onto the cylinder.
See gure 65.
NOTE!
It is very important that the intake system is
sealed. Otherwise the engine may seize up.

Oil the piston and piston ring with two-stroke oil.

Fit a new cylinder top gasket. See gure 66a.
Compress the piston ring and carefully push the
piston into the cylinder opening.

Attach the cylinder. The screws must be tightened
crosswise with a tightening torque of 13-15 Nm.

Pressure test the cylinder. See "Pressure testing
the cylinder".

Assemble the following parts:
• spark plugs, tightening torque 18-25 Nm.
• carburetor. See “Dismantling the carburetor”.
• mufer, tightening torque 12-14 Nm.
• hand guard
• cylinder cover
