Unsupported features
Some Data ONTAP features are not supported in the Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode
release family.
Features not available in Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode release
family
If you have configured any of the following features, do not upgrade to any
release in the Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode release family:
v “IPv6 is not supported” on page 76
v “SnapValidator for Oracle not supported” on page 81
v “SnapLock is not supported” on page 81
Doing so might cause your system to halt or make storage data unavailable to
your clients. If you require these features in your business environment,
contact IBM N series support team to evaluate the best upgrade path.
The following features are not supported in the Data ONTAP 8.0. 7-Mode
release family:
v “Data Motion is not supported in the Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode release
family” on page 45
v “If you need to boot the storage system from a Data ONTAP image stored
on a remote server” on page 73
v “TLS is not supported in the Data ONTAP 8.0 release family” on page 74
v “FTPS is not supported” on page 77
v “SFTP is not supported” on page 78
v “IPsec is not supported” on page 76
v “TOE is not supported” on page 76
The storage system will continue to function but without the services
provided by these features.
Features discontinued in Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode release
family
Beginning in Data ONTAP 8.0 7-Mode, the following features are
discontinued:
v “Upgrade process changes with Data ONTAP 7-Mode software images” on
page 69
v Hardware-based disk ownership
v Media kits
v SnapVault for NetBackup
