f. Move the encoder shaft to find two different voltages. The greater voltage
should be no less than +2.5 VDC. The lesser voltage should be no more
than -2.5 VDC. If the readings are out of specification, replace the encoder.
6. Check the encoder connection cable for shorts or breaks in the cable.
