9.4 SCALPING _______________________________________________________________
NOTE: Arrow indicates direction of travel.
Scalping is a condition in which areas of grass are cut
shorter than the adjacent areas. The area can be light
green or brown. A low HOC setting or turf that is not level
can cause scalping.
Probable Cause Remedy
HOC (height-of-cut) settings are lower than normal. Check and adjust the HOC settings. See Section 6.6
Turf is not level and the mower can not follow the turf. Change the direction of cut.
Grass is higher than the cutting unit capacity. Cut the grass more frequently.
Cut (ground) speed is higher than the mower can cut. Reduce the cut (ground) speed.
