3. Close the low point drain valves and the fresh water tank drain valve.
4. Remove the canister, take the
lter out of the canister, and then reattach the empty canister.
5. Use the clear plastic tube (sup-
plied with RV) to bypass the water lter.
6. Prepare a chlorine solution using 1/4 cup of household bleach (sodium hypochlorite
solution) to one gallon (3.785 liters) of water in a container.
Prepare one gallon of solution for every 15 gallons of tank capacity. This will result in a
residual chlorine concentration of 50 ppm in the water system.
If a 100-ppm concentration is required, use ½ cup of household bleach with one gallon of
water to prepare the chlorine solution. One gallon of the solution should be used for each 15
gallons of tank capacity.
7. Put the sanitizer solution in the fresh water tank; attach a hose to the city water connec-
tion inlet. Insert the other end of the hose into a container holding the chlorine solution.
8. Turn the pump switch ON. The solution will be drawn into the fresh water tank. Turn
the pump OFF when solution has been drawn into the tank. To aid in siphoning, set the
container on a surface approximately (2) feet o the ground. The drain valves must be
turned OFF.
9. Remove the chlorine container and nish lling the fresh water tank with clean (pota-
ble) water until the tank is full. Keep the valves set on . Leave the hose at-
tached to the city water connection inlet; place other end of hose in a container of fresh
water. Turn the pump ON. Fresh water will be siphoned into the tank. Turn pump OFF
when tank is full. Disconnect the hose from utility center.
10. Sanitizer solution should be in the tank and
tank lled with water. The cartridge water lter
(if so equipped) should be bypassed (if RV has
a full system canister lter, the lter should be
removed). Power to the water heater should be
OFF (both switches: electric & LP gas), Set the
valves to the setting. Turn the
pump ON and sanitized water will ow into the water lines from the tank.
11. Open all hot water faucets one by one until water begins to ow continuously and a
chlorine smell is noticeable. Include outside shower faucets (if so equipped). Close hot
water faucets. Repeat this process for all cold water faucets.
12. Turn OFF the water pump.
13. Let the solution remain in the tank and lines for at least four hours when disinfecting
with 50-PPM residual chlorine. If a shorter time period is desired, then a 100-PPM
chlorine concentration should be permitted to sit in the system for at least one hour.
