Chapter - Fault Diagnosis
Auxiliary Engine
Fault Symptom Possible Cause
Engine fails to turn over 1. Check truck ignition is on.
2. Check battery and connections.
3. Check ignition switch.
4. Check starter motor.
Engine turns over but will not start 1. Check fuel tank.
2. Check electric feed to engine injector shut off fuse 8.
3. Check injector shut off valve.
4. Check fuel lines for loose connections.
5. Check oil pressure sender and connections.
6. Check water temperature sender.
7. Bleed fuel system.
Engine runs but stops after 8 seconds 1. Check engine oil pressure is above 0.5 bar.
2. Oil pressure switch faulty.
RPM will not increase 1. Check throttle cable is not broken/jammed.
2. Check feed to actuator.
3. Check fuse 8.
4. Check switch.

Oil pressure warning light not illuminated 1. Check fuse No. 9.
when ignition on engine stopped 2. Check feed to oil pressure switch.
3. Check earth wire.
4. Check bulb.
Water temperature warning light illuminated 1. Unit overheated.
2. Low coolant level.
3. Blocked radiator.
4. Check temperature sender if engine fails to shut down.
Esos Electric Failure 1. Check fuse No. 8.
2. Check oil pressure switch.
3. Check water temperature switch.
4. Check feeds to ESOS.
5. Check ESOS valve.
