Thismethodisbestsuitedforlargedocumentsorprintjobsusingmultiple
fontsandfontsizes.Printspeedsarefasterbecauseoftheoptimization
featuresinthissetting.Therepetitionofsimilarfontdatasenttotheprinting
systemisreduced,therebyincreasingtheprintspeed.Printspeedisnot
increasedwhenusingAsianfontssuchasJapanese,Chinese,andKorean,
becauseofthelargeamountoffontinformationusedfortheseparticular
fonts.

Thismethodimprovestextqualityandincreasesprintspeedbyconverting
TrueTypefontstoAdobeType42fontformat.Thisfeatureisavailablewhen
KPDLisselectedinDeviceSettings>PDL>SelectPDL.
Downloadasbitmaps
Downloadingfontsasbitmapsprovidesmoredetail,howeveritcreateslarge
filesizes.Thisisbestsuitedforprintjobswithuser-definedfonts,verysmall
fonts(pointsize1-4),orAsianfonts.
Substitutewithdevicefonts
Systemfontsanddevicefontsareautomaticallymatchedbasedontypeface
name.Matchingaspecificdevicefontwithasystemfontisdesirableunder
thesecircumstances:
Toincreaseprintspeedandefficiency.
Tochangeafontfoundthroughoutalargedocument.Thisselection
replacestheoldfontwiththedesiredfont.
Note:GDIcompatiblemodedoesnotsupportSubstitutewithdevice
fonts.

Fontsubstitutionistheprocessofusingonefontinplaceofanotherwhenthe
intendedfontisnotavailabletoaprintingsystem.Fontsubstitutionmaybe
criticalforoutputofdocumentstoprintingsystemsthatarenotwellsupported
byalargefontinventory.
IntheImagingtab,clickFonts>Substitutewithdevicefonts>Fontsto
opentheFontSubstitutiondialogbox.
TheSystemfontslistshowsthefontsinstalledonyourcomputer.Theprinting
systemfontsarelistedintheAvailabledevicefontslist.Selectthesystem
font,andthentheavailabledevicefonttobesubstituted.Ifthedevicefontdoes
nothavesimilarfontcharacteristicstothesystemfont,characterspacinginthe
documentmayappearincorrect.
Insomecases,theprintingsystemsubstitutesfontsevenifyousendthe
TrueTypefontsasoutlinefontsorbitmapimages.SelectDisabledevicefonts
topreventsubstitutionofdevicefontsforTrueTypefonts.
Thisoptionalsoimprovesportabilityofprintabledata.(Ifcleared,devicefonts
maynotmatchwhensenttoadifferentprintingsystem.)
