Replacingthebattery

Yourcomputerhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andsettingsforbuilt-infeatures.
Abatterykeepsthisinformationactivewhenyouturnoffthecomputer.
Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andconfigurationinformation(includingpasswords)arelost.An
errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.
Refertothe“Lithiumcoincellbatterynotice”intheSafety,Warranty,andSetupGuideforinformationabout
replacinganddisposingofthebattery.
Toreplacethebattery,dothefollowing:
1.Removeanymediafromthedrivesandturnoffallconnecteddevicesandthecomputer.Then,
disconnectallpowercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtothe
computer.
2.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecomputercover”onpage58.
