In this application, an optional 9-slot version of the Loop-V 4200 MuxMaster is used to provide four-to-five E1
to T1 conversion function. Each E1 is assumed to use only 30 time slots with time slot 16 reserved for
signaling. Because the total time slots for four E1 lines and for five T1 lines are both 120, both bundles can
be fully occupied for traffic. User can assign any of 30 time slots from any of four E1 lines to any of the 24
time-slots of any of five T1s. For digitized voice, A-law to µ-law conversion will be performed. For CAS
(channel associated signaling), the signaling bits will be transferred to their proper places in the respective
E1 and T1 formats. Performance monitoring and maintenance functions, such as local and remote loop
backs, are available. This application provides users with utilization of both E1 and T1 lines.
