Channel Bank Configuration
Next, setup the Time Slot Interchange mapping for a channel bank. We will assume CAS signaling, for which
time slot 16 is reserved for signaling. If non-CAS is used, time slot 16 may still be used for CCS signaling. In
either case, time slot 16 is reserved.

First, establish map for channel bank. In this case, the 4 voice channels of Port B is mapped to time slots 1
to 4 of Port A, the 4 voice channels of Port C is mapped to time slots 5 to 8, and so forth.
Note: When “multicast” is selected, reciprocal time slot assignments are not automatic. This means that
when time-slot 1 of PORT A is assigned to time-slot 1 of PORT B, the user must manually also assign time-
slot 1 of PORT B to time-slot 1 of PORT A.
Use TAB to select Port A.
Move the cursor to the first time slot of PORT A and change to v B 01 (v for voice, B for PORT B, and 01 for
time slot 1), the second time slot to v B 02, and so forth to v B 04. Then time slot 5 is changed to v C 01,
followed by v C 02 and so forth for all the PORTs B to K. Note time slot 16 is skipped.
Now the reciprocal time slots are assigned. For PORT B, the four time slots are assigned v A 01 to v A 04.
For PORT C, assign v A 05 to v A 08, and so on. Time slot 16 of A is skipped.
Note that time slot 16 of PORT A is reserved and the last two channels of PORT K are still unassigned. The
MAP now looks like this.
